hyCURE® GEL - Case Study

"I’m impressed with the hyCURE®, powder or gel, wounds fill in and heal so quickly. If you do wound care on a daily basis, measurements change on a daily basis when using hyCURE® GEL, that’s impressive."

S.S., Traumatic Injury – Achilles tendon

Client is a female, age 56 years, with a traumatic injury of left heel with resulting surgical repair of the Achilles tendon on 072198.

At the initial wound care visit on 072898, the wound measured 2.0 cm x 0.8 cm x 0.1 cm. deep with 100% yellow slough, a Stage III wound. The wound care consisted of NSS cleanse, Panafil Ointment, and DSD. This treatment continued until 092198 when hyCURE® GEL was initiated. At this time the wound measured 4.2 cm x 0.7 cm wide with peri-wound redness and edema. Wound healing was complicated by the fact that the client was weight bearing in excess of doctor’s orders, and the wound opened to a greater degree as a result.

On 092898 the wound measurements were 3.4 cm x 0.6 cm, the edges were pink, the wound drained serous drainage, and was slough-free. On 100598 measurements were

0.5 cm x 3.0 cm, edges were clean. Plus one edema was noted peri-wound. On 101598 the wound measured 0.3 cm x 2.3 cm. The wound was beginning to close in the center. Our client was now FWB. At this time, wound care went to QOD. There was no change in wound measurements for two weeks.

On 110698 the client was no longer homebound, home care services were discontinued. Wound measurements were 0.8 cm x 0.1 cm wide. We instructed our client to continue independently with wound care.

hyCURE® GEL provided wound healing and decreased the size within the first week of treatment despite the contraindication of excessive weight bearing. During the use of hyCURE® GEL the wound never displayed any signs or symptoms of infection. The client tolerated the product without side effects.
